Jack Patterson

Mr. Patterson is a Second World War Veteran. Since retiring, his main interest in life has been maintaining and enhancing public awareness of Veterans generally and The Algonquin Regiment in particular. He is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Parry Sound. Mr. Patterson participates in visiting schools on Remembrance Day and in municipal events to talk about the Second World War and Veterans. He was instrumental, in conjunction with The Rotary Club of Parry Sound, in establishing the Algonquin Regiment/Rotary Fitness Trail. At the start of the trail, Mr. Patterson established a War Memorial for Veterans, particularly those of The Algonquin Regiment and the First Nations Community. He founded a branch of The Algonquin Regiment Veterans Association in Parry Sound to actively promote and maintain an interest in Veterans and their activities. Mr. Patterson publishes a newsletter entitled The Teepee, which is sent to many Veterans across Canada and the United States.
