Judi Marie Helle is nominated for the Commendation for her service with the Army, Navy and Air Force in Canada—Imperial Unit 229. For over 30 years, she has been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Army, Navy and Air Force Imperial Unit 229. She has spent many years on the executive including many as the Unit President & Secretary and taking on the role of President last year.
For many years, she organized and set up the military display at the Western Fair in London, Ontario. This display, which remained set up for two full weeks, mostly included items she personally collected from her family members and other sources over many years.
For Unit 229, she has been Coordinator of the branch poppy drive each November and has done this for approximately ten years.
Every January for the past 20 years, she has delivered Christmas care packages and visited with the Veterans in Parkwood Hospital. she also organizes and helps fund “Breakfast with Santa” at her branch, as well as other holiday events for children.
For the past number of years, she has also been the primary care giver for a Second World War Veteran in her area. Her compassion has allowed the Veteran to remain in his family home and she has made sure to include him in any Veterans’ events in his area.
