Sylvain Tétreault

Saint-Charles-Borromée, Quebec

Sylvain Tétrault has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for approximately five years. He joined at a time when membership was declining and the branch was at risk of closing its doors. Realizing the effect this would have on the Veteran community, he went to work. He recruited new members, and reconstructed the executive committee as some of the former executive were burnt out by many years at their posts.

Within a few months, he achieved his short-term goal of putting an executive in place and recruiting 40 new members, bringing membership up to 60. Just as fundraising and other activities were increasing, the pandemic hit and things slowed down. Still, poppy campaigns remained successful which allowed the Legion to raise funds for Veterans in need, for scholarships for students who have a Veteran parent and to assist the five local cadet corps.

Sylvain Tétrault has been a major asset in the functioning of the Legion on an organizational level and in terms of supporting Veterans. He is presently gathering resources to clean the gravestones of local Veterans.
