William J. Neil

A Second World War Veteran wounded at the Falaise Gap in Normandy, Mr. Neil worked for Prosthetic Services, Veterans Affairs Canada, from 1959 to 1977, and served as its National Director for seven years. He has been a member of the War Amputations of Canada National Council since 1981, and has served on the Board of Directors of the Joint Veterans Association of Manitoba. Mr. Neil was also a member of the Joint Veterans Housing Society, Veterans Manor, the Board of Directors of the Deer Lodge Centre and the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation. He has participated in several Veterans Affairs commemorative pilgrimages to France and Belgium, honouring the memory of Canadians who fought and died in the European theatre of war. Mr. Neil has won numerous accolades and awards for his devotion to the welfare of Veterans and his effective advocacy of Veterans causes.
