Son of William Howard Bent and Marion Gladys Farris, of Waterville, Kings, Nova Scotia. Husband of Gladys Lilian Keddy.
Enlisted with the West Nova Scotia Regiment, he served in Nova Scotia, transferred on 28 November 1940 to the 1st Battalion, Royal Rifles of Canada, he served in New Brunswick, in Newfoundland with Force W, in Québec, in Hong Kong with Force C, prisoner of war in Hong Kong and in Japan. He had 1,880 days of service, including 1,411 overseas.

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY Japan
YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY is 9 kilometres west of the city on Yuenchi-Dori, Hodogaya Ward, which branches left off the old Tokkaido highway. The nearest railway station is Hodogaya, 5 kilometres to the north on the JNR line but the cemetery is easily reached by bus from Yokohama station.
