Context

The Provincial/Territorial Commendation is awarded by the President of a Provincial/Territorial Council of the Priory of Canada of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem to acknowledge a contribution which deserves recognition but which does not meet the criteria for admission or promotion within the Order itself.

Context

The Chancellor’s Commendation is awarded by the Chancellor of the Priory of Canada of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem to acknowledge a contribution which deserves recognition but which does not meet the criteria for admission or promotion within the Order itself.

Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee Medal

Context

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Accession of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The medal is administered by the Chancellery of Honours at Rideau Hall.

Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal

Context

The Queen’s Golden Jubilee medal commemorates the 50th anniversary of the accession of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second to the throne. This commemorative medal program is now closed. This medal is administered by the Chancellery of Honours at Rideau Hall.

125 Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal

Context

The medal was awarded to those making a significant contribution to their fellow citizens, their community, or to Canada. Persons deceased prior to 01 January 1992 were not eligible for consideration. This commemorative medal program is now closed. This medal is administered by the Chancellery of Honours at Rideau Hall.

Eligibility and Criteria

Military nominees were selected by the chain of command based on merit. This medal program is closed.

Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal

Context

Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal (1977)

Context

The medal was instituted on 06 February 1977, with most awards made in the same year.

Canadian Centennial Medal (1967)

Context

This medal was issued to commemorate the Centennial of Canada's Confederation in 1867.

Eligibility and Criteria

It was awarded to people recommended by governments and associations. The Canadian Forces were awarded almost 30% of the medals issued.

Description

A circular silver medal, 1.42 inches in diameter with a thin, plain raised rim. For mounting, there is wide triangular fixed suspender is attached to the medal by a prominent single-toe claw.

Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Medal (1953)

Context

The medals were presented following the coronation on 02 June 1953.

Eligibility and Criteria

Medals were awarded to a list of individuals similar to that for the King George V Jubilee Medal, as a personal souvenir to selected persons.

Description

A circular, silver medal, 1.25 inches in diameter. For mounting purposes there is a ring attached to a double-toed claw on the upper edge of the medal.

King George VI Coronation Medal (1937)

Context

The coronation of King George VI took place on 12 May 1937, following the death of King George V on 20 January 1936 and the abdication of King Edward VIII on 11 December 1936.
