Meritorious Service Medal (MSM)

Military nominations shall be processed through the chain of command in accordance with A-AD-200-000/AG-000 - Honours, Flags and Heritage Structure of the Canadian Forces .

Medal of Military Valour (MMV)

Context

Military Valour Decorations are national honours awarded to recognize acts of valour, self-sacrifice or devotion to duty in the presence of the enemy.

Eligibility and Criteria

A person is eligible to be awarded a Military Valour Decoration if that person, on or after January 1, 1993 is:

Officer of the Order of Military Merit (OMM)

The Order of Military Merit was established to provide a worthy means of recognizing conspicuous merit and exceptional service by members of the Canadian Forces, both Regular and Reserve. Commander of the Order of Military Merit (CMM)

Context

The Order of Military Merit was established to provide a worthy means of recognizing conspicuous merit and exceptional service by members of the Canadian Forces both regular and reserve. Military nominations shall be processed through the chain of command in accordance with A-AD-200-000/AG-000 - Honours, Flags and Heritage Structure of the Canadian Forces.

Cross of Valour (CV)

Context

Created in 1972, the Cross of Valour recognizes acts of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme peril.

Victoria Cross (VC) Canada

Context

Created on 1 January 1993, Military Valour Decorations are national honours awarded in recognition of acts of valour, self-sacrifice or devotion to duty in the presence of the enemy.

Eligibility and Criteria

A person is eligible to be awarded a Military Valour Decoration if that person, on or after January 1, 1993 is:

British Meritorious Service Medal (MSM)

Context

This medal was awarded for valuable and commendable service.

Eligibility and Criteria

The medal was awarded those in the permanent forces including Warrant Officers and senior Non-commissioned Officers (NCOs) (Sergeant or above), who were discharged after 21 years of service (18 if disabled), and had earned the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. The dates were from 1902 to 1958 if enrolled before 01 September 1939. The award was limited to 40 who could wear it at any given time. The number was increased to 75 in 1928 and to 100 in 1939.
