Burial/memorial information
Enlisted in the Châteauguay Regiment on 26 May 1942, he embarked in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on 29 September and landed in Great Britain on 7 October. Transferred to the Royal 22e Régiment on 21 July 1943, he embarked for Sicily on 15 August, arriving at his destination on the 27th. He took part in the fighting. On 3 September, he set foot on the Italian mainland. He was killed in action on 16 December 1943 during the Battle of Casa Berardi. He was buried there on the 21st before being exhumed and reburied in the Moro River Cemetery, Ortona, Italy. He had 570 days' service, including 443 overseas.

MORO RIVER CANADIAN WAR CEMETERY Italy
The Moro River Canadian War Cemetery lies in the locality of San Donato in the Commune of Ortona, Province of Chieti, and is sited on high ground near the sea just east of the main Adriatic coast road (SS16). The cemetery can be reached from Rome on the autostrada A25 (Rome-Pescara) by branching on the autostrada A14 and leaving it at Ortona. The approach road to the cemetery from the main road passes under an arch forming part of the little church of San Donato. The cemetery is permanently open and may be visited anytime.
