  • S.S. Caribou– Ordinary Seaman Raymond George WHITE was a passenger aboard the Newfoundland ferry 'S.S. Caribou' on 14 October 1942, when-without warning-it was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-boat.                                                                       "The Caribou served the North Sydney-Port Aux Basques ferry run from 1925 until 1942, when it was torpedoed by a German submarine. It sank with a loss of 136 lives."
