Caporal Monty John MacLeod
Monty MacLeod in December 1917 wearing the uniform of the 236th CEF (MacLean Kilties). He and his brother Murdock had joined this battalion in Boston, MA USA. After arriving in England, they
were transferred to the 72nd CEF (Seaforth Highlanders of Canada). Monty was killed in the attack on
Valenciennes, France on 1 Nov. 1918. Murdock was wounded 30 Sept 1918 and was sent to England. He survived and returned to Quincy, MA where he lived until his death in 1972 at age 79.

CIMETIÈRE COMMUNAL DE VALENCIENNES (SAINT-ROCH) Nord, France
Le cimetière communal de Valenciennes (Saint-Roch) est situé du côté nord-est de la ville, à 1,5 kilomètre environ du centre. Il se trouve du côté nord de la route de Bruay-sur-l'Escaut.
