Son of Henry W. Pett and Kate Elizabeth Caroline Greenop of Oldham, England.
He is presumed to have fallen from the 'tween deck to the lower deck while picking up electrical harnesses following orders from the second officer. He died in hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
