Le capitaine d'aviation Allison a fréquenté l'école secondaire Loyola à Montréal avant de poursuivre ses études en commerce à l'Université McGill. Il a en outre travaillé pour General Motors. Il se passionnait pour l'aviation et était membre du club de vol à voile. Il conservait d'ailleurs sur son bureau un petit avion qu'il avait sculpté.
L'équipage de l'ARC décolla du terrain d'aviation Stratford-upon-Avon dans le cadre d'une mission d'entraînement de nuit. Peu avant 21 h, ils lancèrent un message radio pour aviser qu'ils éprouvaient des problèmes avec le moteur tribord. Quelques minutes après avoir obtenu la permission descendre au-dessous des nuages, l'aéronef MF 509 s'écrasa contre le versant sud-est de Carreg Goch, dans les montagnes Brecon Beacons (Wales). L'écrasement fut attribué à une erreur de pilotage.

Wellington MF509 was flying out of #22 Operational Training Unit in Warwickshire. On November 20, 1944, the crew were on a night cross-country exercise when it began to lose height due to icing. All the crew were killed when it struck Gareg Goch in the Black Mountains, Wales. <P>
