Ernest Jolicoeur (1892-1915) of the 13th Battalion, Royal Highlanders of Canada.
Son of Télésphore Jolicoeur & Elmina Bédard.
Born in Ottawa, Ontario on 31 August 1892.
He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 24 September 1914.
In the fall of 1914, he was promoted to sergeant. This photo appears to date from that time.
As of 15 March 1915 he reverted to the ranks at his own request, in the field, in France.
On 15 July 1915, the 13th Battalion was at Ploegstreet and its War Diary indicates that
Private E. Jolicoeur was accidentally shot in the head and died of wounds an hour later.

CIMETIÈRE MILITAIRE « STRAND » Belgique
Le cimetière militaire « Strand » est situé à 13 kilomètres au sud du centre-ville d'Ypres, sur la Rijselseweg (N365), allant d'Ypres à Wijtschate, à Mesin et vers Armentières. À partir du centre-ville d'Ypres, prenez la Rijselsestraat en partant de la place du marché, traversez la porte de Lille (Rijselpoort) et passez au-dessus des carrefours comprenant la route périphérique d'Ypres. Le nom de la route devient alors Rijselseweg.
Le cimetière se trouve du côté gauche de la route N365, 4 kilomètres après Mesin et juste avant le village de Ploegsteert.
