Fils de Germain Poirier et Caroline Barrieau de Bouctouche, Kent, Nouveau-Brunswick.
Eugène Poirier a servi en tant qu’Eugene Perry. Enrôlé au 64e Bataillon à Sussex, au Nouveau-Brunswick, le 25 septembre 1915 (matricule 470620).
Il a été transféré au 41e Bataillon à Halifax, en Nouvelle-Écosse, le 16 octobre 1915. Il est parti outre-mer le 18 octobre 1915 et fut ré-assermenté à Bramshott, Angleterre, le 17 février 1916 (matricule 416008).

Statement by Hon. Ronald Duhamel (Minister of Veterans Affairs and Secretary of State (Western Economic Diversification) (Francophonie), Lib.) about the 23 soldiers of the Canadian Expeditionary Force who ¿were lawfully executed for military offences such as desertion and, in one case, cowardice¿ announcing that ¿the names of these 23 volunteers will be entered into The First World War Book of Remembrance along with those of their colleagues. Adding the names of these citizen soldiers to the pages of this sacred book, which lies in the Memorial Chamber not far from here, will be a fair and just testament to their service, their sacrifice and our gratitude forevermore.¿ Part 1

CIMETIÈRE MILITAIRE D'ÉCOIVRES Pas de Calais, France
Mont-Saint-Éloi est un village du département du Pas-de-Calais situé à 8 kilomètres au nord-ouest d'Arras. Le village surplombe les champs de bataille de Vimy et de Souchez ainsi que la route principale qui mène de Béthune à Arras. Les tours en ruine qu'on peut apercevoir servaient de postes d'observation pendant les attaques françaises qui se sont déroulées à Neuville-Saint-Vaast et à Givenchy en mai 1915.
Écoivres est un hameau au pied de la colline, à 1,5 kilomètre au sud-ouest de Mont-Saint-Éloi, sur la ligne Arras-Saint-Pol. Le cimetière se trouve sur la route D49.
