Notice:

The National Inventory of Canadian Military Memorials is a public, crowd-sourced registry that helps Canadians learn about memorials in their communities. Inclusion in the Inventory does not imply VAC ownership or authority. Responsibility for the care, management, and any changes to a memorial rests with its owning or governing organization.

The Victoria Cross Memorial Gallery is dedicated not only to Robert Hampton Gray and David Ernest Hornell who received the Victoria Cross while in service to their country, but also to the memory of those who served in all aspects of Canadian Military Maritime Aviation. The Gallery includes portraits of Gray and Hornell, artwork depicting their act of heroism and other pertinent displays within the museum collection. The Victoria Cross is the highest honour in the Canadian honours system, taking precedence over all other orders, decorations, and medals. The Victoria Cross is awarded to an officer or soldier for the most conspicuous bravery, a daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice or extreme devotion to duty, in the presence of the enemy.
