Notice:

The National Inventory of Canadian Military Memorials is a public, crowd-sourced registry that helps Canadians learn about memorials in their communities. Inclusion in the Inventory does not imply VAC ownership or authority. Responsibility for the care, management, and any changes to a memorial rests with its owning or governing organization.

Acting on the suggestion of Parks Canada, the Government of Canada selected 12 National Parks to locate permanent tributes to Canada's fallen warriors. Point Pelee was chosen as the Ontario location. On July 1st 1985, this memorial was unveiled in a service conducted by Branch 84 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Leamington, attended by many government and Legion dignitaries including: W. (Bill) Smith, President R.C.L. Ontario Command; Don Ferguson, Director General Veteran Services; Don Wilkes, Information Officer Parks Canada and Jim Barlow, Park Superintendent.
