A stone cairn was erected by the Wyoming Royal Canadian Legion in front of the library at 536 Niagara Street and dedicated on September 25, 1955, in everlasting memory of those who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars. The brick work was completed by Bill Dokter and Al Kovermaker, the cross on top of the cenotaph was donated by Ron Canton and the wrought-iron fence was donated by Martin Raaymakers. The bronze plaque on the front was donated by Canadians of Dutch descent who also donated the Liberation of Holland plaque on the library in 1985 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the liberation of Holland.
When the cenotaph plaque was replaced in October of 1986, the old plaque was moved to the legion for a memorial display. It is not known what happened to the Liberation of Holland plaque. The memorial display was unveiled November 11, 1987, by Silver Cross Mother Lyla Gray. The Second World War photos were a culmination of almost a year's work by Jean Gray.
