In 1955, a memorial grave stone was dedicated members of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment who fell during the First, Second and Korean Wars. This stone was placed in front of the Armoury on Victoria Avenue which was the home of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment “D” Company. In 1992, the Armoury was handed back to the Department of National Defence. The Regiment then paraded out of the Lake Street Armoury in St. Catharines.
In approximately 2002, the Armoury was given to the City of Niagara Falls. It was arranged to have the signage relating to the Lincoln and Welland Regiment removed. The memorial stone was moved to Christ Church which was the Garrison Church of the Regiment's different companies since the armouries erection in 1911.
For several years the stone sat in lot on the church grounds. Around 2004, a garden committee of church members was formed and plans were drawn to incorporate the memorial stone. Family memorial bricks were sold for those that wanted to have their families remembered and they encompassed the perimeter of the walk way. Six garden benches were procured and dedicated to families. The whole concept was surrounded by flowers to give the area a place of meditation. The garden itself was designed in the shape of a Celtic cross with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment memorial stone at the head of it and three flag poles directly behind the stone. The cross was made from paving stones. The garden was dedicated in 2005, Year of the Veteran.
