Stamford Memorial Hall was a project undertaken by the Stamford Women's Institute beginning in 1919. They raised money through fund-raising events, public donations, several grants and a bank loan. The memorial hall, opened in 1920 at 3846 Portage Road, was dedicated to the men and women of Stamford who served in the First World War.
In the 1970s, Stamford Lion's Club purchased the building from the Stamford Women's Institute. The building was subsequently demolished in June 2021 and the hall's engraved name block that was on the facade of the building was moved to Fairview Cemetery.
