The East Oxford Township Cenotaph was unveiled at Town Hall on November 16, 1919, by Rev. Captain Apple Yard of Woodstock and assisted by Lieutenant-Colonel Burgess. It honoured those from East Oxford Township who made the supreme sacrifice in the First World War. Later, names of those who died in the Second World War were inscribed on the back of the memorial.

It stood at the southwest corner of the Town Hall grounds until the tornado of August 1979 destroyed the Town Hall and the memorial was moved to Pioneer Cemetery.
