Notice:

The National Inventory of Canadian Military Memorials is a public, crowd-sourced registry that helps Canadians learn about memorials in their communities. Inclusion in the Inventory does not imply VAC ownership or authority. Responsibility for the care, management, and any changes to a memorial rests with its owning or governing organization.

This memorial was erected by 600 (Regina) Wing of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association in honour of the No. 5 Bombing and Gunnery School, based at Dafoe during the Second World War. Fifty members of No. 600 Wing traveled to the site of the old airport and were joined by members of the Royal Canadian Legion from Leroy, former Air Station personnel attending a reunion, members of Ex-Air Gunner returning home from a reunion, Col Doyle of 15 Wing, Moose Jaw and local residents. The Memorial Cairn was dedicated on August 18, 1996. The cost of the Cairn and Plaque was covered by No. 600 (Regina) Wing, Air Force Association of Canada.
