Accompanied by a Second World War era field gun, this cairn is dedicated to the memory of the local war dead of the First and Second World Wars and was unveiled on 14 June 1952. The Legion Branch leased a piece of land from the Northern Alberta Railroad for the cairn for the duration of 90 years at 1.00 per year. The legion members hauled the rocks used in the construction of the cairn, and they purchased gravel, sand, and cement. A stone mason constructed the cairn, and a bronze plaque was purchased to be placed on it.
