This mountain was named in 1918 in honour of Lieutenant Colonel W.F.R. Hart McHarg M.I.D. LCol McHarg practiced Law in Rossland, BC and served in the South African War before being killed in action on 24 April 1915 leading the 7th Battalion, BC Regiment in the 2nd Battle of Ypres.
