This memorial, a Second World War and post-war era Sherman tank, was presented by The South Alberta Light Horse to the city of Medicine Hat in 1967 in honour of those members of the regiment who served in them during the Second World War.

THIS SHERMAN TANK IS PRESENTED BY THE SOUTH ALBERTA LIGHT HORSE OF THE CITY OF MEDICINE HAT, IN CANADA'S CENTENNIAL YEAR AND IS A MEMORIAL TO THE MEN OF THE SOUTH ALBERTA REGIMENT WHO USED THEM DURING THE 1939-45 WAR.
