This memorial to Canada's veterans was erected by Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 72. The Alberta – Northwest Command gave the Legion a grant of $1,500.00, covering the full cost of the memorial. The basic cement work was done by Comrades Blaine Riding, Tom Landsman, and Bill Hakes under the supervision of Comrades Fielding Young and Steve Kucharuk. Comrade Fielding Young made the metal “Eternal Flame”, and the bronze plaque was installed from the previous cenotaph. Community members provided unique fieldstones and the stonework was done by a firm from Grande Prairie. The memorial itself was designed by Comrades Fielding Young and Steve Kucharuk. It was unveiled at a branch meeting on August 28, 1996, with a formal dedication by Father Gendre, Branch Padre.
