Notice:

The National Inventory of Canadian Military Memorials is a public, crowd-sourced registry that helps Canadians learn about memorials in their communities. Inclusion in the Inventory does not imply VAC ownership or authority. Responsibility for the care, management, and any changes to a memorial rests with its owning or governing organization.

The site of this memorial was a Second World War prisoner of war camp. The original watch tower and Colonel's cabin are still in place and house pictures and information on the POW camp. The memorial is dedicated to the Veteran Guards, which consisted of veterans from the First World War that were too old to fight in the Second World War, but held positions including guarding, communications, railway, ammo depots and POW camps. The memorial was funded by the Kananaskis Rotary Club. The construction was done by the Kananaskis Country Maintenance Department. The memorial was dedicated on 17 October 1997.
