Built in 1948-49 by Charles Burwell Kerrens Van Norman and dedicated on November 11, 1949, the Memorial Arena represents community efforts to commemorate lost soldiers at the end of the Second World War. Its construction reflects increasing population growth as troops returned to the area. The arena was built with funds raised by the Kamloops and District War Memorial Recreational Society.
