Bostock Place was named in honour of Senator Hewitt Bostock (rancher, politician). The City of Kamloops Heritage Commission initiated the Veterans Street Sign project to promote public awareness of the City’s heritage. To honour their Veterans the City of Kamloops added a poppy symbol to the Bostock Place street sign in honour of Hewitt Bostock's son Lieutenant Alexander Hewitt Bostock, who died while serving with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse during the First World War.
