This 1860 Royal Engineer Log Building was moved from its location at CFB Chilliwack to a site adjacent to the Six Field Engineer Squadron Museum Association's Armoury. This was completed in 2000. It was reconstructed by 6 Field Squadron after the closure of CFB Chilliwack. This log building was originally built by the Royal Engineers in 1860 to provide accommodation for their survey team that was surveying the 49th parallel between Canada and the United States. It was located close to the 49th parallel near the present town of Langley. This building is believed to be the only remaining building of those built in 1860 and 1861 by the Royal Engineers as accommodation during the clearing and survey of the 49th Parallel to mark of the border between British Columbia and the United States. The log cabin was formally opened in its present location on 16 September 2000 by Col. A.F. George, TD, Joint Honorary Colonel of the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia), an affiliated regiment in United Kingdom.
