On December 9, 1930, a number of ex-servicemen met in the Lynn Valley Municipal Hall and formed a branch of the Canadian Legion, British Empire Service League. In April 1948, they purchased a property from the District at 1630 Lynn Valley Road, where the branch is now located. To pay for the property and build the branch, monies were raised from raffles, football sweeps, teas, dances, whist drives, draws, concessions, hall and room rentals, pool and concerts. After three years, they began bulldozing, and building started in July 1951 and all work on the property and building was by volunteers. The branch was officially dedicated on September 28, 1952.
