This Nuristani pillar, designed and created by the
Turquoise Mountain Foundation in Afghanistan,
was commissioned by
the Department of National Defence.
Based in Kabul,
the Turquoise Mountain Foundation
helps renew traditional Afghan art
and architecture while encouraging
the rediscovery of
Afghanistan’s cultural heritage.
This provides Afghan men
and women jobs, skills,
and a sense of national pride.
