The Canadian Tulip Festival was established 73 years ago in 1953 to commemorate the memorable role of the Canadian troops in the liberation of the Netherlands. The Festival also celebrates the birth of Dutch Princess Margriet in Ottawa and the historic gift of tulips from the Dutch to Canadians immediately following the Second World War.
Our Opening Ceremony begins with vintage military vehicles, swing dancers and actors in costume.
Our Veterans and VIPs will be entertained from a Viewing Section. Our honoured Second World War Veterans for 2025 are Ret. Private John Preece and General Richard Rhomer, the most decorated Canadian Soldier.
We ask the public to help open the festival and welcome our heroes, in the old fashioned way!
