The monument was dedicated on 1 June 1924. The dedication was done by Rev. H.A. McManus and attended by veterans from Oxbow, Lampman, Frobisher, Carnduff and Estevan. The construction was financed by Alameda Band and Spearheaded by T.H. Truscott. The monument was given into the care of the Town of Alameda and responsibility accepted by Mayor James McLay and Council.
