On May 7, 2005, Veterans of The Algonquin Regiment planted a linden tree on this spot dedicated to the memory of the 341 Algonquins who gave their lives in the Second World War and those from the Parry Sound area who sacrificed their lives in the war.

THE ALGONQUIN REGIMENT MARKED
THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF V.E. DAY,
THE ENDING OF HOSTILITIES IN EUROPE,
BY PLANTING A LINDEN TREE ON THIS SPOT

DEDICATING IT TO THE MEMORY OF THE
341 ALGONQUINS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES
IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR, AS WELL AS
OTHER SOLDIERS, SAILORS AND AIRMEN
FROM THE PARRY SOUND AREA
WHO SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES.
