This narrows is named in honour and memory of James Bannatyne, one of our honoured dead of World War II. Service No. H-103880. Born at Goldpines, Ontario. A trapper and fisherman of Lac Seul. Killed in action in the defence of his country while with the Royal Canadian Army in France, August 2, 1944.

The cairn was erected by the volunteers of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 139 and the Members of the Lac Seul Native Band Reserve No. 28.
