The figure of a soldier by the Community Hall in Forest is sculpted from Italian marble. It is one of many in Canada that were crafted in Europe. The fine stone is much prized for sculpture and comes from the same area as the marble that Michelangelo worked. Source: "By Little Towns" booklet by Robert Shipley
