Notice:

The National Inventory of Canadian Military Memorials is a public, crowd-sourced registry that helps Canadians learn about memorials in their communities. Inclusion in the Inventory does not imply VAC ownership or authority. Responsibility for the care, management, and any changes to a memorial rests with its owning or governing organization.

Hargraves Place honours William Hargraves, Sr. (arrived ca. 1888, blacksmith, hardware merchant, theatre owner, alderman, etc.). The City of Kamloops Heritage Commission initiated the Veterans Street Sign project to promote public awareness of the City’s heritage. To honour their Veterans the City of Kamloops added a poppy symbol to the Hargraves Place street sign in honour of Sapper William Hargraves Jr. who died while serving with the Canadian Engineers in the First World War.
