This island is named in honour and memory of Wilson George McGuire, one of our honoured dead of World War II. Service No. H-14308. Associated with Lac Seul summer and winter transport. Killed in action in the defence of his country while with the Royal Canadian Army in Holland, October 23, 1944. The cairn was erected by the volunteers of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 139 and the Members of the Lac Seul Native Band Reserve No. 28.
