Mount Hope Cenotaph

Hamilton (Mount Hope), Ontario
Type
Other

The Mount Hope Cenotaph was erected in 1955 as a project of the Glanford Lions Club. There are three pillars dedicated to the three services – Air Force, Army and Navy.

In addition to the names of local members of the services inscribed on the memorial, the names of 11 flyers/navigators, who were killed while training at the Mount Hope Airport (British Commonwealth Air Training Plan) during the Second World War, are included. They are buried at the nearby St. Paul’s Anglican Church in official Commonwealth War Graves sites.
