This memorial was erected on June 19, 1927, in memory of "Those who fell in the Great War 1914 - 1918". The monument was erected and paid for by the Imperial Order of Daughters of the Empire (I.O.D.E.), Powassan Chapter.
The names of those from the community who gave their lives during the Second World War were subsequently added on a plaque, and a second plaque with more names was added on the back. The Korean War and Peacekeeping efforts are also recognized, as a local soldier was lost in Croatia.
In 1990, the monument was completely refurbished by Sanderson Monuments.
