Youth will gain a greater awareness of human rights in Canada and an understanding of some of the serious discrimination that 2SLGBTQI+ people have experienced while serving in uniform over the years. They will use this new knowledge to create an activity or artwork recognizing the service of 2SLGBTQI+ Veterans.
To increase youth awareness of Canadian Armed Forces efforts in the Gulf War.

Youth will:
Indigenous people have a long and proud tradition of military service across Canada’s history. More than 12,000 First Nations, Inuit and Métis people bravely enlisted during the First World War, Second World War and Korean War. Many members of these communities have continued to serve with distinction in more recent years.
To increase youth awareness and understanding of the evolution of the role of Canadian women in the military, and develop an understanding of an important milestone that was accomplished during the 1990-1991 Gulf War.
Through this activity, youth will:
To increase youth awareness and understanding of the Gulf War, as well as the Canadian men and women who served during this time, through the lens of media.
Through this activity, youth will:
To allow students to gain a greater understanding of the achievements and sacrifices of women who have served in the Canadian military over the years.
Students will be expected to:
To increase youth awareness of the many Canadian women who have died in military service since the First World War.
