Erected by Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 113 in 1948 (then known as the British Empire Service League), the memorial is dedicated to the war dead of the First and Second World Wars. A bronze plaque was added in 2000, commemorating the Korean War. The cement grouting was also replaced at this time by Leroy Masonry, Virden, Manitoba. The memorial was unveiled on 26 September 1948, at 2 p.m. in the afternoon. The unveiling ceremony was as follows: The opening was the singing of the National Anthem. Comrade A.L. Dennis, Chairman introduced the Guest Speaker, Mr. E. McCullogh, MP. Reverend Father Wm. Cross said the dedication prayer, and Comrade C.A. Rolfe read the names of the departed servicemen. Two hymns were sung, ‘Onward Christian Soldiers’ and ‘Abide with Me’. The Prayer was made by Comrade Rev. R.F. Wheeler. There was a Lesson by Rev. W. Groom. There was also a ceremonial guard of honour, and Wm. Kenney was in charge. The Last Post was played, and there was two minutes of silence. Following the time of silence was the laying of wreaths. The event was closed with the benediction and ‘God Save the King’. The music for the event was done by the Moosomin Royal Canadian Legion Band.
