This memorial is dedicated to the local war dead of the First and Second World Wars. The memorial was constructed in 1946-47 in memory of our fallen comrades in the First and Second World Wars. Funds for the construction of the cenotaph were raised by donations from residents of the area as well as volunteer labour. Stone used in the construction were all found near Bethune.

The Govan War Memorial was constructed 1981-82 in memory of Fallen Veterans in the First and Second World Wars from Govan and District. The monument was erected by the Royal Canadian Legion Govan Branch # 257. The monument is located in front of the Administration Office on the Main street of Govan. Maintenance of the monument and grounds are done by Legion members.
