Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund

If you are an organization that works to create new and innovative ways to improve the well-being of Canadian Veterans and their families, the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund may offer the support you need to get started.

About this program

The Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund may award:

  • Grants: up to $500,000 per fiscal year, for a maximum of three years.
  • Contributions: up to $1 million per fiscal year, for a maximum of five years.

The current call is for grants only. Veterans Affairs Canada encourages organizations to apply for the amount of funding that their research, project or initiative requires, and not the maximum amount available.


Do you qualify?

To qualify, you must be a:

  • Non-profit organization; or
  • For-profit organization (provided that the nature and intent of the activity is non-commercial, not intended to generate profit, and supports program priorities and objectives);
  • Research organizations/institute;
  • Educational institution;
  • Public health and social services institution; or
  • Indigenous organization.

Applications for the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund are currently closed.

Please note: This program is designed for initiatives that support the well-being of Veterans. Visit our website for the full definition of a Veteran.

Applications should focus on supporting Veterans during the Post-Covid-19 recovery, including addressing homelessness, unemployment, retraining, and health challenges. Additional consideration will be given to projects that look to support equity seeking groups, including those that serve women and LGBTQ2+ Veterans.

Is this a benefit Veterans can apply for?

No. This fund is intended for organizations, not individuals.

What are the reporting requirements for organizations that receive funding?

Organizations are expected to measure the success of their project. If an organization is awarded a grant, we expect them to provide us with a report of their research, project or initiative once complete. If an organization is awarded a contribution, they will be required to provide regular progress updates, financial reports and a formal evaluation/report at completion, which will be outlined in individual contribution agreements.
