How is a health professional approved?
Provinces/territories normally oversee the regulation of health professionals. Before VAC approves a health professional, we first verify that it is regulated and then determine the suitability of the service as a treatment for your health need(s).
Approval is based on the Health Professional Policy as well as any evidence-based research and recommendations made by the Benefits Review Committee at VAC. This committee, composed of a wide range of health professionals, determines inclusions and exclusions of specific health professional groups and benefits.

If you’re not sure that a health professional listed on the Medavie site is covered by VAC, please contact us to confirm the health professional is VAC-approved.
