Location:

The Assisi War Cemetery forms part of the locality of Rivotorto in the Commune of Assisi, in the Province of Perugia. From Rome, take highway A1, Rome-Milano, come off at Orte and go along the road 75 for Perugia and follow the direction signs for Assisi. Take the road to Rivotorto, and at a crossroad from which a church is visible, turn left. The Assisi War Cemetery is reached after about 500 metres .

  • Wartime diary– Entry for 1 July 1944 in the War Diary of the 11th Armoured Regiment (The Ontario Regiment), Canadian Armoured Corps.  It records, among other events, the death of Lieutenant O. H. Hopkins.

2527 Lieutenant Oliver Hugh Hopkins (RMC 1936) was the son of Lt.-Col. J. R. Hopkins and Winnifred Irene Hopkins. He was the husband of Kathleen Doreen Hopkins, of Verdun, Quebec. He served with the Ontario Regiment, R.C.A.C. 11th Armd. Regt. He died on July 1, 1944 at 25 years of age. He was buried in the Assissi War Cemetery in Assissi, Peruglia, Italy V, E, 9.
