This mural was sponsored and spearheaded in 2018 by Communities in Bloom in partnership with the Eagle Valley Arts Council, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 99, District of Sicamous and local businesses. The western wall of the Legion was crumbling so Communities in Bloom supplied materials to strap the wall and add crezone board as a base for the mural. The Legion repaired the wall, created a committee of both young and older Veterans to create the subject matter of the mural, and made a donation supporting the Eagle Valley Arts Council, whose members painted the mural.
The painters included Kim Hyde, Karen Oliver, Cindy Mackrell, Dianna Bowles, Marg Pettitt, Carol Schlosar, Sue Miller, Sally Handley, and one other woman who was visiting. The paint was supplied by a local business. Once the mural was completed, it was coated with an anti-graffiti clear coat. The mural is a tribute to the past and present members of the Canadian Armed Forces, featuring a depiction of the Vimy Ridge Memorial, which serves as a symbol of the birth of the Canadian Armed Forces. It also depicts a Canadian flag with a silhouette of a soldier kneeling before a grave, which honours those who did not return home. The mural also features the badge of the Canadian Armed Forces, as well as several poppies.
