On April 7, 1918, three Toronto Vimy Ridge heroes plaques were unveiled in three different Toronto Anglican churches. Captain Boulter's plaque is at the Church of the Redeemer and Lieutenant Gregory's plaque is at All Saints Anglican Church. The Lieutenant Ernest Reece Kappele Plaque was presented by his mother and unveiled on the west transept of St. Paul's Anglican Church by Captain R.A. Donald who was assisted by Private George Godier. Both served with Lieutenant Kappele.

Lieutenant Kappele was killed in action on April 4, 1917, while serving with the 75th Battalion.
