The Cross of Sacrifice was unveiled on 29 October 1922. A Cross of Sacrifice stands on a field of common ground between the Roman Catholic and Protestant cemeteries on Mount Royal. It was built by the Imperial War Graves Commission and was dedicated by the minister of militia and defence, George Graham, on October 29, 1922. The stark marble cross, 19 feet high, was blessed by an Anglican and a Roman Catholic bishop of Montreal in the presence of Mayor Méderic Martin. The cross is inscribed on both sides with the words, "Their memory will live from generation to generation."
