This memorial is dedicated to those who fought in the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. It was erected by the Women's Institute, Athens.

Maple trees have been planted in a row along County Road 5 South, just outside Athens (Township Rear of Yonge & Escott) and County Road 5 North, just east of Mallorytown (Township Front of Yonge). This "Road of Remembrance" was dedicated in separate ceremonies on Friday, November 10, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. Crosses were erected for each tree, each with one name from the cairn plaques.
